CAST Contributor Spotlight: Jasper Morrison
In the early days of writing CAST, we were brainstorming about everything we wanted to include in the book - craft, fine art, everyday objects, industrial mass-produced objects, works from antiquity, architecture... the list went on and on, but we recognized that there's a funny category that is part of each of these but also stands on its own... Design.
We are so excited to include pieces by Jasper Morrison, a world-class designer who designs for clients from Samsung to the Tate Modern. His designs range from bathroom fixtures to electronics, and shoes to door handles.
As is the case with any designer who creates a diverse set of objects, casting is one of Morrison's staple processes. You can see examples of his use of casting in everything from his Air Armchair to his Teamaster tea set and his Morrison Range sanitary and brassware to his Ni-jo Sandals produced by Camper.
